This reinvention of the urban front garden contains colours and forms inspired by the children’s fictional classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
Inspired by work being carried out across the Tatton Park estate, the garden features plantings of ivy, mosses, grasses and clipped box, designed to draw attention to the serious decline of invertebrates in our cities and towns.
Colourful plants from the northern hemisphere, such as buddleia and pot marigolds, feature throughout the design, bringing out colours, shapes and forms from author Eric Carle’s story. Naturally, there are plenty of edibles including kale, beans, apples and pears.
